Here it is! The cover for MACHINE HEAD!

I love cover reveals. I mean you guys know that because they make up the majority of content here on the blog. But I especially love when I get to share my covers for the first time! I've been sitting on this little beauty for a month and it's been killing me softly.

MACHINE HEAD is what I'm calling an 'interactive novel'. It's a fancy phrase for a choose-your-own-adventure book. But the reason I didn't go with that is because Machine Head isn't quite like the ones we read as kids. In those, the reader usually plays the part of the main character as they read, choosing how that character reacts. In my story, the reader is outside the story, looking on, learning about the characters and world, but also running the show and deciding the outcome. Make sense? It's complicated, I know, but really fun too.

Alrighty then, are you ready?! Here is my pretty new cover-baby...

Where young rule and elders are hunted to extinction... and you decide who's guilty.

MACHINE HEAD
An Interactive Novel

Available April 10, 2015

Adults have poisoned the world with their selfishness, jealousy, and deceit. Now it’s up to the young to heal it. First order: eliminate every elder. Second: discover the secret to never growing up. Third: procreate.

Ten Sixty-Four is on trial for treason. The crimes he committed are unforgivable: hiding elders who should be long dead, consorting with illegal untrained young, and purposely botching kill missions. He’s come a long way from the cold, unfeeling, Sleepwalker he began as. He’s still four years from the death age, which means the Hex can’t afford to kill him. If found guilty, he’ll be given to the Machine for reprogramming. But none of that matters because he’s done what no other Sleepwalker has dared to. He’s found love. And he knows something they don’t. Falling in love is the secret to achieving the third order.

Brille has a secret of her own: the elders aren’t extinct. They’re not even endangered. But what the rest of the world doesn’t know can’t hurt them. At least, not anymore than they’re already hurting themselves. There is no more laughter. No more crying. No feelings of any kind. Only in the secret hiding places where the untrained dwell with elders, can emotion be found. Then it’s anger, rage, and hostility. When she finds herself a target of the Sleepwalkers, she realizes she’s not the only one with secrets. Ten Sixty-Four feels. He might even be capable of love. The idea leaves Brille with an emotion she never thought she’d have: hope.

The Hex has convened. A trial will commence. You, a member of the jury, must decide Ten Sixty-Four’s fate, and with it, the future of humanity.

Love Starts With
 Z
Book Three in the Dead Rapture Series

“She was Dead and human, and no matter which side she chose, she was a traitor.”

Twenty-four years into the Dead outbreak that ended the world, Soren Mitchell sticks out like a sore thumb in the remains of the human race. She's an anomaly: a hybrid of human and Dead, created by her mother's genetic immunity. Like her parents, she's fierce and strong. But despite their hopes for her happiness and safety, and even though she is no real threat to the colony, she has let the humans muzzle her and confine her within the walls of Dead Run River in search of a cure.

When Kaegan Langford stumbles into the colony with an injured friend draped across his shoulders, her world is turned upside down. Intrigued and affected by her, he asks her to come to Empalme, Mexico with him to fight in the war between Deads and humans. It'll be a long, treacherous journey to the coast, but she's had all she can take in the colony.

Battles with Deads, betrayal, injury, kidnappings, and a criminal-run train ride stand between them and the war. But in the end, it's not just the war with the Deads that could be the death of them.

Tera Shanley's final book in the Dead Rapture series will thrill your heart...and your braaaains.

Cover Reveal: SACHAEL DREAMS by Melody Winter

About Sachael Dreams:
Twenty-two-year-old Estelle Bailey has had enough of busy city-life and her hot-tempered ex. She escapes to the seclusion and peace of her family’s clifftop home in Ravenscar, where the soothing solitude whispers to her soul as strongly as the sea itself does. But her newfound contentment is interrupted when a mysterious man—a Sachael, master of seduction—joins her midnight swim unexpectedly.
Estelle struggles against his charm and the overpowering attraction she feels for him. He offers her a life she never could have imagined, a life beneath the waves . . . but at what cost? Before she can decide, she’s captured, ensnared by the Sect, a secret enemy of the Sachaels, becoming a pawn in a war she knew nothing about.
Now, she’s left with a new choice—escape the clutches of the Sect and flee into the ocean, or side with her alluring, intimidating captor and destroy the Sachaels forever. Can she turn her back on the man she might love, or will the secret of her heritage change everything?
Set against a picturesque backdrop, Sachael Dreams is the first in a new series, exploring themes of romance, love, and identity, and the struggle that happens when all three collide.

About Melody Winter:
Growing up, Melody Winter showed a natural ability in art, a head for maths, and a tendency to write far too long English essays. Difficult to place in the world when she graduated, she pursued a career in teaching, but eventually ended up working in Finance. Melody is convinced the methodical time she spends working with numbers fuels her desire to drift into dream worlds and write about the illusory characters in her head.
Melody Winter lives in North Yorkshire, England, with her husband and two sons. When not dealing with football, rugby, and a whole plethora of ‘boy’ activities, she will be found scribbling notes for her stories, or preparing for another trip to the beach. With an obsession for anything mythical, Melody revels in reading and writing about such creatures. In fact, if she wasn’t such a terrible swimmer, she’d say she was a mermaid.
Sachael Dreams is her debut novel, and the first in her New Adult Romantic Fantasy series—the ‘Mine Series’.

News! And where I've been...

Hi friends!

I've been away from the blog and most of social media since like, November, and I missed you guys. Have you missed me? Say you missed me. Pleeeeeease.

Okay, thanks. Ego, saved.

Anyway, there are several reasons for my absence:

1) November and December are the two months in the year where my sweet family kind of takes over every minute of my life. Birthdays, holidays, lots of home time, lots of out-of-town time, not enough time, time, time, where did the time go. Why aren't there more hours in the day. You get the picture.

2) I needed a social media break. I was getting weighted down with all the drama llamas, to be honest. And it seems to me like when I surround myself with llamas, I become a llama. And I don't like myself when I'm a llama. I like myself when I'm me. So I needed to step away for a bit.

3) I've been working on a super top secret thing that I can't tell you about. I'm sorry. It's not fair, I know. But I can't. All I can tell you is it involved a hecka lot of writing. I've been stretching my writing muscles. They're starting to look like Arnold's from his glory days. But, except they're writing muscles and not real muscles. In the past four months I've written three books. That's like, whoa, for me. Before, I might have finished a book (one) in six months. It's amazing what you can do when you cut out all the noise and just focus on your characters.

 And now I have news!

Last year, I participated in #WIPmarathon on Twitter. I met a ton of super awesome people. It was a blast to work on my project with the support of others, and to be able to support them too. It was a great example of what I wish the entire writing community could be. There was no judging or back-biting or I'm-better-than-you or anything like that. It was just... cool. Really cool. And actually, I think it was the foot that kicked me in the heiny and got me moving with regards to writing faster.

So. Some of you might remember the book I was working on back then because I talked about it a lot. I was pretty pumped because, y'all... it's a choose-your-own-adventure story! Remember those from when we were kids? Except mine's a little different. It's an upper YA, so geared toward an older crowd than typical CYOA books. Also, it's not written in second person, which means the reader is NOT the main character of the story. Instead, the reader decides the fate of the characters. Sort of. It's complicated. And sometimes complicated = a hard sell. At least in terms of traditional publishing.

And that is why...

I'll be self-publishing that title in April.

I've *ahem* dabbled in the self-publishing world previously, under a pen name and had success. Like, really good success. I enjoyed having control over those books and I think this particular manuscript of mine will do best with that publishing route. So, that's where we're going with it.

Here's where I beg you, my friends and colleagues and family, for your help...

The cover reveal for MACHINE HEAD will be January 30, 2015 and if you could help me start spreading the word about it, that would be supa-rad.
